What makes Crisp County an ideal choice for a project location? Start with location and you'll find Crisp County is located in the heart of one of the fastest growing areas within the southeastern United States. Along with an excellent location come the benefits of competitive electric rates and job tax credits of $3,000 per job. If that isn't enough, there is access to numerous industrial parks and incentives. Crisp County treats a company as though it were the only company. One
reason the South is so attractive to business and industry is the efficient
operating cost due to low unionization. This holds true in Crisp County
as well, where organized labor is virtually non-existent. Less than
one percent of all manufacturing employees (17 out of 2,303) is associated
with a union, while only one out of 50 plants is unionized. With expanding business and industry and a growing economy, Crisp County is continuing what began over 100 years ago. Along with economic prosperity Crisp County offers a variety of lifestyles, recreation and culture. We invite you and your company to come and be a part of our community.
Agriculture continues to be a thriving economic stimulus for Crisp
County, funneling over $50 million into the area annually. The major cash
crops in Crisp County include melons, peanuts, livestock, pecans and forestry
products which, combined, use over 75% of the land area in Crisp County Agriculture will remain an integral part of the economic prosperity of our community because of its roots in our heritage. In 1996 approximately 136 million lbs. of watermelons and 2 1/2 million cantaloupes were shipped out of the Cordele Farmers Market. The Farmer's Market contributes a great deal to the local economy.
