Charming homes and kind neighbors make for an ideal living environment.

What makes Cordele different from other southern towns? The residents. It's the smiling faces that greet you on the sidewalk or in the restaurant, the annual festivals that create excitement throughout the community and the culture that is unique to the area. It is what we all have come to know as a lifestyle that is unequaled anywhere but here at home in Crisp County.

Residents of Crisp County do not have to leave home to enjoy cultural and artistic events and activities. The Crisp Area Arts Alliance was formed in 1994 to promote and support the local artists and cultural groups in the area and to bring multi-cultural programs and events to the community.

The work of a local or regional artist is on display at the library each month. These exhibits celebrate the richness and diversity of our culture in many forms.

The CAAA also brings into the community and schools professional artist and performers. The residents of Crisp County have the opportunity to enjoy storytellers, musical productions, chamber music and theater of the highest quality.

For residents who enjoy a more "hands on" event, workshops in creative writing, painting and ceramics are often held. There are also groups for blue grass music, ballroom dancing and the fine arts.

Cordele became a designated "Main Street City" in 1987. It is one of 36 in Georgia and one of 1,100 in the nation. The downtown revitalization through a four-point approach that includes organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring while preserving our heritage. We take great pride in a $3.2 million apartment building, "Suwanee House", that has just been completed. And Downtown Revitalization is continuing with a broad base of volunteers.
